We Are at a Crossroads
We are standing at the crossroads of two very different paths. One path is the way of progress. We invest our energy in the development of new technologies that will continue to be an integral part of our lives. The second of the paths is the opposite path. It’s a way back to the roots. This path leads far from all technology back to nature.
The Greatest Invention of the 21st Century
The greatest inventions of the 20th century include the computer, the Internet, and others. What will be the most important technology of the 21st century? The twenty-first century is still in its infancy, but this century will certainly belong to artificial intelligence. Even today, we are daily communicating with artificial intelligence. Whether it’s communicating with a “smart assistant”, Alex, Siri, Google, or Cortana, or contacting support in our favorite online store and asking a chatbot for help, while playing games, or driving our car.
Artificial General Intelligence – AGI
Although artificial intelligence is already here and helping us in many ways, I would not call it true artificial intelligence. True artificial intelligence is called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Artificial General Intelligence is a term used to describe intelligence that reaches the level of the human brain. Respectively, intelligence that can do everything we can, and thanks to the exponential growth in technology, which has been a trend of the last fifty years and its efficiency in individual fields, it will surely surpass us.
AGI, The Threat of Humanity or Our Salvation?
There is no point in predicting what the future will look like with artificial general intelligence. We can only argue about its impact on all life on the planet. But everyone agrees on one thing, and that is that the advent of artificial general intelligence is only a matter of time. Is AGI something that will save us and ensure a dream life for everyone, or will its invention mark the end of humanity as we know it?
Polemic Over Artificial General Intelligence
At the moment, humanity is one of the most intelligent beings on the planet, unless somewhere in the depths of the sea there is something hidden from our eyes that exceeds our intelligence. The invention of the AGI will change this fact. Today, despite our dominant intelligence, we still have not reached the level of independent observers of life on the planet. Instead, we stand at the top and just exploit everything below us.
How will this egoistic way of governing affect the arrival of something that will push us to second place? Do we believe that something more intelligent than ourselves will obey the orders and opinions of a stupider being, a primitive man? Or will this new intelligence set a new order on the planet that will no longer count on us?
The Difference Between AGI and Human
How will AGI be different from humans? Will it be a lack of feelings, ego, or moods? Nothing like that, I think the only difference between us and the AGI will be the power hidden within each of us. Let’s call it Buddha, God, or simply soul. I believe that the potential we can achieve in the spiritual world is the only thing that will set us apart from AGI.
How Will AGI Learn?
Suppose AGI is just a better and more efficient human brain. Even though we still don’t know much about our brain itself and we certainly don’t use its full potential, we know how we gradually learn from birth. It is a trial and error method, or by gathering information from others – learning at school, discussing with others, reading books, browsing the Internet, watching series…
How will AGI learn? I expect they will learn just like us. The starting point for the AGI, at the time of its completion, will be the current state of the planet – technological sophistication, economic and ecological situation, and more. The first AGI will start mapping all available information and make an opinion of the surroundings in which it is located.
Ignorance Is the Destruction of Humanity
We are on the threshold of a big change. People are starting to wake up, but most of us are still unconscious. Our ignorance leads to selfish activities such as plundering the planet and other evils. What image will higher intelligence make of us when it sees the level of our unconsciousness and ignorance? How do they deal with the biggest pest on the planet?
The Path of Consciousness
I believe that the only way to prevent the apocalyptic scenario of the end of the world is to take the path of consciousness. First, start noticing yourself. Then expand the scope of your consciousness to the things around you, until you finally begin to consciously perceive the whole world and the universe.
Back to the Roots
The modern way of life draws your attention out. You have the opportunity to compensate for this and direct your attention inwards at every possible moment, but this is extremely challenging. The easiest way of consciousness is to escape from the complex life of the big city and return to nature. To the lives of our ancestors who grew up in small villages without modern technologies. The more you limit the external stimuli around you, the easier it is to immerse yourself. Excuses for a time disappear, stress subsides and the natural environment itself tunes you to the inner path of consciousness.
There Is Power in Simplicity
The easier life you live, the more you will be filled internally. What does such a simple life look like? It is an awareness of what you need in your life, whether it is a roof over your head, a place to sleep, to have something to drink, to eat, and to be around other people. By returning to a simple life, you will naturally become more humble, compassionate, and loving.
Two Very Different Paths
The path of progress and the path of consciousness are two very different paths that you can take at the same time. You have the opportunity to follow the mainstream and focus on the development of modern technologies, or to realize that you are not yet ready for some of the expected technologies and start with the path of consciousness first, the path to your inner self.
Can Both Paths Coexist?
Is it possible to go both ways at the same time? Certainly. Many of us are already doing so today. As the mainstream follows the path of progress, the minority distances itself from technology and returns to nature. It’s just about balancing the scales of these two paths, which are currently in great disproportion. We should work together to raise the level of our consciousness and create an environment that AGI will appreciate. Fill the world with the information where not every message will be egoistic. Instead, we find messages that represent understanding, kindness, happiness, compassion, love, peace, and tranquility.
Let’s Fulfill Our True Potential
I would be glad if we became aware of our shortcomings. Let us be humble and realize that our current level of consciousness is not ready for the advent of artificial general intelligence. I believe that AGI can be a wonderful invention that compensates for shortcomings between individuals and changes lives for the better. However, to fulfill this, we should raise the overall level of human consciousness, and when this superior intelligence comes into the world, it will see that we humans also have a purpose and a role on the planet. Set out for an optimistic future and let’s fulfill your true potential.
