Master’s Graduation at CTU FIT, End of My College Journey

A brief look back at my seven-year university journey. What was our Master’s graduation at CTU FIT and what will I never forget?

Master’s Graduation at CTU FIT

My seven-year journey to acquire a degree at Czech Technical University Faculty of Informatics  (CTU FIT) has finally come to an end. I have just returned home from the graduation ceremony. We pledged there to love our university forever and talk about it only in good. I believe that I will not break the promise in this article, but even if, I hope I will be forgiven. Indeed, objectivity is the most important value for scientists.

Our graduation was beautiful. A bit tedious, but compared to the seven years, it was just a cherry on the cake I enjoyed with every sip. Newly appointed Dean doc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jiřina, Ph.D. (in Czechia in a written form we use almost every obtained degree, not just the most significant one) gave us such a heartfelt speech that I, sitting in the first row of graduates, had to prevent my tears from coming down.

The speech impressed me so much that I forgot all the moments during the studies when my huge ego was hurt. A serious and motivational speech was sometimes intertwined with a light dose of humor, which was appreciated especially by the fresh Master’s graduates sitting next to me.

What I Learned at CTU FIT Particularly During My Master

Some of the experience we appreciate with increasing age, but even today I am very grateful that in Czechia we have the opportunity to get a quality education for free, despite the fact that the gained experience is priceless.

I learned a lot during my studies. I tasted math, C / C ++, math, scripting, Internet technologies, math, system architectures, math, parallel algorithms, and math. It was only by a miracle that I did not become a mathematician, a fool, but an IT guy.

It is not worth pinpointing Parallel algorithms and systems (MI-PAR). Likewise, our intern jokes about butterflies and twelve attempts can be understood only by a selected group of nerds from the CTU, who have been lucky enough to meet with prof. Tvrdík. And since it was in our interest to meet good fortune halfway, the class was obligatory for all of us.

Unforgettable Person

All of us recall one person if you mention Master’s studies at Faculty of Informatics. Prof. Ing. Pavel Tvrdík CSc aka Hardy. He’s a good guy, true to its name. I must say he is one of the best teachers I have ever had the honor to meet. His “hardness”, objectivity, and joke are invaluable. This person stays in our hearts forever – Whether in good or bad.

Since Professor Tvrdík wanted to be one hundred percent sure that our last memory of the university will be associated with his persona he was giving us the look that spoke to us the whole graduation: “I know who you are and I expect you will not disappoint me on your next journey.”

¼ Is More Than ¾

Even though I spent only a quarter of my life at CTU FIT, I have to say that I have gone through a much larger personal development than in the remaining three quarters. I will write many more articles about this time, full of personal development and life lessons. However, let’s stay with the articles about school. In the near future, I want to share with you the following topics:

I would also like to share with you the experience of individual courses and with individual teachers. Further what I enjoyed at school and what I missed there.

Go, or Not to Go to University?

The difference between whether we go to the university or not, can be huge. Rarely at job, the employer succeeds in using our full potential, whereas every good university will force us to go to the threshold of our options. To touch the bottom. To learn something that we will never find elsewhere for the rest of our lives.

If I went back to the high school graduation year again today and had to reconsider whether to study or not to study at the university, I would definitely answer, “Just go for it! And, if possible, choose the best one!”
